Our Students Find Their “Voice”

Student Advisory Boards provide a systematic way for students to provide input in the University decision-making process.

Our students speak and we listen.  Have you heard about our four Student Advisory Boards:  SoBTM, SoBHS, SoE and MFT?  These advisory boards are comprised of current students and alumni who share a common goal:  helping to foster a positive ongoing relationship with students and the community at large and to gather input related to programmatic and curricula needs.

School of Business and Technology Management - Student Advisory Committee

The School of Business and Technology Management Student Advisory Committee is comprised of four to eight students and alumni who meet quarterly to create connections and understanding to assist the Dean and Faculty of the School of Business and Technology Management.  The mission of this committee is “To serve as a voice for the student body for outcomes assessment and proactive changes for the future.”

School of Behavioral and Health Sciences - Student Advisory Board

The School of Behavioral and Health Sciences Student Advisory Board is comprised of no less than six and no more than 12 students at any given time. Diversity of experience, industry, and professions is recognized. Two to three members are Northcentral University faculty and staff; the remaining members are external representatives.

School of Education Dean’s Student Advisory Board

The School of Education Dean’s Student Advisory Board is a standing Board that provides suggestions and input to the Dean regarding all aspects of the School, including academic programs, specializations, curriculum, policies, and effectiveness. The Board is not a forum for complaints, but rather represents the voice of students for outcomes assessment and proactive change.

Marriage and Family Therapy Student Advisory Board

The Marriage and Family Therapy Student Advisory Board is the most recently created of Northcentral’s Student Advisory Boards.  It is a group of seven student volunteers that are committed to representing all MFT students in the governance of the MFT programs.  MFT faculty and staff are committed to acting upon the input received by the Marriage and Family Therapy Student Advisory Board.

Northcentral University’s Schools of Business and Technology Management, Behavioral and Health Sciences and Education, and the Marriage and Family Therapy Program have advisory boards whose roles and responsibilities may vary, but each of these groups create bridges of understanding to help inform decisions about the curriculum, guide the development and validation of program outcomes, and assist the Schools in developing and maintaining strong relationships with the public and professional communities.  These advisory boards are just one way in which we empower our students to participate in the University decision-making process.
